Sarabi at 9 years old
NEWS
Some very exciting news, as of August 31, 2010. Our new 3rd generation buck, AFF Herd Pepper Jack has bred a 3rd generation doe, Carol King, out of Tasha and by Gaston for a Jan. 23, 2011 kid and our first, 4th generation kid. OH, the wait will be soooooooo long.
In April of 2010 I decided to sell the Nigerian Dwarf herd. They will never know how much they influenced me with developing the Mini-Alpine's. I knew the time was coming when they'd have to take the back seat and I wanted them to go on to better things that I couldn't give them. So, with many tears I put them for sale. I thank Valerie over at Piddlin Acres for buying Debbie's Doe(Dee Dee) and her half sister, Warrior Princess. It's nice to know I can e-mail Valerie and ask how my girls are doing and she'll give them a hug from me.
To the barnyard there has been added another Great Pyrenees puppy called Polar Bear. He's Kubby's brother and they haven't had one growl between them. Kanga is going to go into the weaning pasture so he will still have a job to do. His hearing isn't up to par and he's coming 9 years old.
I have decided to buy a few Standard Alpine's also to add to my bloodlines. As of June 26, 2010 Dreamy-Hollow CSN Bleuberry(spelling is as on papers) and Dreamy-Hollow Rock Star came to live with us. They are weanlings so it will be some time before they are bred but adding their lines to the Mini-Alpine's is very exciting. I'll be taking some shots of them in a few days and when their photo's are up their bloodlines will be also. I may even enter the show ring with them. The weekend of July 16th we headed to Wilhoit, AZ to deliver Springsteen, Memphis and Don Juan to their new homes. Many exciting days ahead for the herd.
There are also a few Irish Dexter heifers. Mahogany and Tiffany. The Hog is getting ready to be bred for the first time and Tiffany was just weaned the 3rd week of August. We will be taking a small ride with The HOG to Dublin, TX to meet a Dun colored, polled(Hornless) bull in a few days. Cows have a 9 month gestation time so next June we may have a calf on the ground. This will take forever and I'll be going nuts waiting.
